Overview

One of the key initiatives announced as part of Strategic Realignment Recommendations on March 15, 2011, with regard to academic science programs was the "formation of a task force to review possible structures and recommend a course of action that is aimed at having fewer but stronger academic units."

The purpose of this review is to determine the best ways to enhance the natural synergies between many of our science programs, promote interdisciplinarity and reduce administrative overhead. The outcome should serve to strengthen our historical commitments to agriculture and natural resources and allow the development of innovative new programs that continue to serve the evolving needs of these important constituencies. We aim for this to be a truly inclusive, transparent and faculty-driven process.

Timeline: The Task Force delivered a set of recommendations to the Provost in March 2012.
