Proposed schedule of library hours for 2010-2011: Carolyn Argentati, Associate Vice Provost and Deputy Director of Libraries presented the proposed hours for the NCSU Libraries for Summer and Fall 2010 and Spring 2011. The committee voted and approved the proposed hours.

The library will contact Dining Services to see about having the Creamery open on Saturdays. Concern was expressed about the lack of dining options on this side of campus after 3pm. The Atrium currently closes at 3pm. It was also suggested that the library should be a part of the discussion regarding the implementation of the new All Campus Card.

Institutional History Subcommittee Proposal: Greg Raschke, Associate Director for Collections and Scholarly Communication and Todd Kosmerick, University Archivist presented a proposal to establish an Institutional History Subcommittee for ULC. It was suggested that the committee become a standing committee of the ULC, that the membership be broadened to include practicing historians, and that a meeting be held with interested stakeholders to revise the language of the proposal. A motion was made and passed to approve establishment of a Standing Subcommittee on Institutional History, hold a meeting to discuss the language in the proposal and the scope of the committee, and for the ULC to postpone approval of the fully drafted proposal until revisions are made. Suggested names for this meeting included: Art Cooper, President of the Association of Retired Faculty, Murray Downs, Susan Nutter, Doug Reeves, and Betsy Brown, Vice Provost for Faculty and ULC volunteers: Kristen Schaffer, David Danehower and Kim Bernard.

Cambridge University Press v. Patton: Shelby Shanks, Director of Digital Scholarship and Publishing gave an overview of the copyright infringement case involving Georgia State University. It was suggested that the library or someone from the university should provide faculty members with instruction on fair use. Shelby will e-mail the committee when the case has been settled or a verdict is rendered.

Proposal for meeting of TRLN Advisory Committees: Susan Nutter, Vice Provost and Director of Libraries, reported that we will continue to try gauge the interest of TRLN partners in a joint meeting of the TRLN Advisory Committees. The three other institutions were not able to find dates that would allow their students to attend, so we will look for dates this for Fall 2010.
