OLD BUSINESS
FTM 497 (tabled from May 28th 2008 due to consultation) Although a consult from Design was included with the action, the action was again tabled due to consultation issues with the College of Design. The College of Textiles had revised the syllabus based on the consult received and wants this course for student portfolios used in industry. The College of Design feels that this course encroaches into the area of art and wishes further consultation on subject matter. The Design representatives definition of the term “studio” is specific to their field of study and object to the use of this term as part of the title of FTM 497 and as defined by those in Textiles. ADN 470 is the course in the College of Design that was presented as a similar course to the proposed FTM 497. ADN 470 is restricted to Design students and has pre-requisites. The design representatives stated that the Dean of COD and the Dean of COT would be meeting the following week and indicated that this course would be part of the conversation. The committee voted to table to allow for further discussion and consultation between the colleges.
