Comments from the Chair: Chair welcomed the members and guests to the UCCC meeting.

Comments from the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Programs: Reminded the committee that there will be one more meeting for UCCC on May 9, 2007 and lunch will be served starting at 12 p.m.

Minutes: Moved to approve the April 11, 2007 minutes. Approved unanimously.

Update from the Syllabus Subcommittee group: Subcommittee chair thanked the volunteers for completing their revision of the Syllabus regulation. The revised regulation has been submitted to Dean Ambrose for review. Handout sample was included in the mailed packets.

Consent Agenda:
Moved to approve.
• Request to remove item #4- Natural Resources – Policy & Administration (NRP).
• The following items were approved unanimously:
o Establish PB course prefix/Change BO course prefix to PB
o Degree Title Change:BS Botany (SBO) to BS Plant Biology (SPB)
o FOR 303, 304, 374, 405 (chg in pre/co-requisites) Revision Braham 04/10/07
o EE and CPE curricula Revision

Natural Resources Policy & Administration (NRP) – Approved with changes.
• Discrepancy on General Education Requirements on page 6, footnote 4. H&SS electives need to match the GE requirements (1 lit course, 1 history, philosophy or religion course, 1 visual or performing arts course).

Major Actions:

BIO 181 – item was tabled with the following discussion items:
• Obtain consultation from PAMS and Education
• Revise the proposed effective date
• Advise on transition period for these courses and discuss transition
• Will ZO 160 be available if that’s offered as an alternative and provide consult if needed.
• Suggest a revisit for course renumbering.

BEC 220 – Approved with changes:
• Pg 4. Course grading – need due dates for these assignments, exams, etc
• Pg. 3. Delivery format – field trips -> clarify transportation & provide a statement for the transportation off campus
• Pg. 4. Class participation – clarification of how students earn the class participation points
• Disability Policy – missing second URL
• Course Action Form – Catalog description – fix second sentence “Description of”
• Friendly Suggestion: Credit-only section – include university regulation and link for C- or better for credit-only

BEC/MB 320- Approved with changes:
Note: The crosslist of MB/BEC 320 was determined to be a special exception to the policy for crosslisting since the courses would be managed academically under MB and supported financially by the BEC program.
• Disability policy missing second URL
• Pg. 5. needs due dates for assignments & tests under Course Grading
• Pg. 5. (friendly suggestion) include lab reports and due dates for the lab courses such as this one
• FS – Credit-only section – include university regulation and link for C- or better for credit-only
• Provide a schedule of readings
• Clarify lecture attendance requirement and how that affects (is reflected) in the grade

BEC/MB 325 – Approved with changes:
Note: The crosslist of MB/BEC 325 was determined to be a special exception to the policy for crosslisting since the courses would be managed academically under MB and supported financially by the BEC program.

• Provide dude dates for assignments etc under grading policy
• FS – Credit-only section – include university regulation and link for C- or better for credit-only
• Clarify lecture attendance requirement and how that affects (is reflected) in the grade

• CAF – clarify the anticipated enrollment to reflect correct number of students
• CAF – remove “Summer” on the scheduling

BEC 480 - Approved with changes:
• Contact hours on the CAF need to match
• Include lab reports and due dates

BEC 485 – Approved with changes:
• Contact hours on the CAF need to match
• Include lab reports and due dates

MA 440 – Approved with changes:
• CAF – co-requisite needs to be on the pre-requisite line
• Fill in the Previous prefix number & course title on CAF
• Add the Incomplete grade policy and URL
• Clarify on late assignments for homework policy
• Clarify the attendance policy - letter I; “Excused absences as defined in the attendance regulation” with URL

CSC 405 – Approved with changes:
• CAF – course scheduling needs to be Fall every year
• Pg. 5, need the policy on incomplete grades
• Pg. 6, remove transportation statement if none; clarify transportation & scheduling, include in catalog description if there are field trips

CSC 474 – Approved with changes:
• CAF – Restrictive statement needs to be added to read, “Credit not allowed for both CSC 474 and 574.”
• Provide instructor’s incomplete grading policy with url
• Textbook needs a publication date
• Pg. 10, fix URL for disabilities

Brief update on GEP Plan: The GER Task Force hopes to have a proposal that will be sent to the Provost next month.
