OPENING:
1. Meeting called to order at 12:28 pm.
2. Remarks from the Chair:
a. Recognized and thanked guests for coming.
b. Reported that the Major GPA can be calculated in a number of ways if requested. Contact Stacy Fair for further information on ways to calculate.
3. The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Programs thanked the committee for its work and attendance.
NEW BUSINESS
1. The committee approved the minutes from the March 28, 2007 meeting.
2. Consent Agenda was approved. The actions included:
• CE 382, 477, 481 (revision to co/pre-requisites)
• NE 412 (revision pre-requisite)
• BIO 105 (revise restrictive statement)
• Business Management Minor (addition of crs to Elective list)
• MEA 120, 121, 470, 471, 485 (chg in scheduling/restrictive statement).
3. Major Action – Course Actions:
• ECE 445 (new course previous ECE 492) – Approved with the following changes.
a. On the action form change the x for contact hours to a 3.
b. Friendly suggestion strengthen the resource statement D.
c. Add a reading assignment schedule or add the readings to the
Topics and Lecture Dates.
d. Correct the URL for the students with disabilities.
e. Add a statement on incomplete work.
f. Under Audit and Credit Only Policy credit only requires a C- not a B-. Much of audit policy is at the discretion of the instruction but reconsider the B-.
g. Correct the grading scale. The C+ 77.99-72 should be C.
h. Friendly suggestion clarify the homework policy.
• NE/PY 414 and NE/PY 415 (revision) - Approved with the following changes.
a. Page 2, E 101 title should be “Intro. Eng. Problem Solving”.
b. Page 2,correct the names of the calculus sequence courses.
c. Page 2, add foot note 1 to “Speech/Writing/Foreign Lang. Elective.”
d. Page 2, correct name of MA 341 “Applied Diff. Equations I.”
e. Page 2, in IE 311Economics is singular.
f. Page 3, under Technical Electives BUS 455 is no longer being taught, indicate that BUS 370 is available to Minors, and BUS 420 is available to Double Majors. Note: At this point the question was raised how to update course actions across departments to recognize changes as in f.
• ALS 494 (International Learning Experience in Agriculture and Life Sciences) – Approved with the following changes.
a. In the catalogue and syllabus description change “immersion in an international culture” to “international cultural immersion.” Also add that there may be travel cost.
b. On course action form add the name of an instructor.
c. Page 2, under Credits drop the first sentence and change the “course-by-course” in the second sentence to “case-by-case.” Clarify if it can be retaken different semesters.
d. Add a statement for incomplete work.
e. Correct Disability statement.
• USC 201 (Introduction to the World of Labor) - Approved with the following
changes.
a. On course action from check the box for every year.
b. Clarify the contact hours.
• HON 321 (Music & Sci Sound) - Approved with the following changes.
a. On course action from check the box for every year.
b. Collect together the course outcomes in the GER Justification and add them to page 11, between the course outcomes and the GER Justification.
• M 100 (Prefix Change) – Approved.
4. Major Actions – Curriculum Actions:
• ENE (Curriculum Revisions) - Approved with the following changes.
a. Page 3, ENG 101 is 4 credits.
b. Page 3, correct the manes of the calculus courses.
c. Page 3, MEAS 323 should be MEA 323.
d. Page 3, Fall Sem. Senior Yr. (friendly suggestion) add foot note 2
with caution about double counting.
e. Page 3, Spr. Sem. Senior Yr. Total credits are 15.
f. Page 4, drop E 101 in both places it occurs.
h. Page 4, The C or better statements should be corrected to C- or better.
• NRP (Natural Resources-Policy & Administration) – Withdrawn.
• NRE (Natural Resources-Ecosystem Assessment) - Approved with the following changes.
a. Page 5, replace the 4 occurrences of, “HSS or Technical Elective” by
“HSS/Technical Elective.”
• Management (Undeclared) - Approved with the following changes.
a. Page 1, ACC 200L should be ACC 200P.
b. Page 1, drop the 2 from Microeconomics2 under EC 201.
c. Page 2, foot note 3 drop BIO 125.
d. Add a statement to make clear must matriculate after the Fall Semester
second year.
• BA (Economics) - Approved with the following changes.
a. Page 4, ACC 200L should be ACC 200P.
b. Page 5, where appropriate match the footnotes with those on page 2 of Management (Undeclared).
• BS (Accounting – Undeclared), BS (Accounting – Managerial Concentration ACM), BS ( Accounting – Information Systems ACS), BS (Financial Analysis ACF) – Approved as a group with the same changes as those in Management (Undeclared). Note these are the same changes as in BA (Economics).BS (Business Management BUS eight semester displays) –
Approved with the following changes.
a. Page 1, ACC 200L should read ACC 200P.
b. Page 2, in footnote 15 replace ACC 201 with ACC 210 and EC 210 with EC 201.
c. Page 2, in footnote 16 check the PHI courses.
d. Make all footnotes consistent with previous actions.
