Welcome to the committee and introduction of the guests.
Remarks from the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Programs:
Dr. Ambrose wished the committee Godspeed.
Approval of Minutes:
The minutes of 8 November 2006 were approved.
Vote for Committee Chair for 2007-2008:
Chris Ashwell was elected.
Old Business:
AEE 435 -- Professional Presentations in Agricultural Organizations (new course)
was approved pending the following changes:
- Page 2 -- edit consultation with department’s statement to reflect correspondence shown on pages 12-16.
- Page 6 -- add ‘Honor Pledge’ to Academic Integrity statement.
- Page 6 -- in second sentence of ‘Late Assignments’ statement change “no credit” to “zero”.
ELM 484 -- Student Teaching in Elementary Education (revision)
Revision was tabled pending clarification on appropriate number of credit hours.
New Business
Consent Agenda
The following items were approved without discussion:
- Business Management Minor
- AEE -- Eliminate cross listing
- Middle East Studies Minor was pulled for discussion after which it was approved unchanged.
Major Actions -- Course Actions
ACC 499 -- Professional Internship in Accounting (new course)
was approved pending the following changes:
- Cover sheet -- Change contact hours from 6 to 40
- Clarify prerequisite statement to show the course is for majors only.
- Include in the catalogue description the 40 contact hours, and that participation is by invitation
- Page 3 -- include attendance policy.
PHI 300 -- Ancient Philosophy (revision)
was approved pending the following changes:
- Cover sheet -- check “no” box for distance education
- On corequisite -- state that PHI 495 is for majors only.
- Include ‘honor pledge’ in academic integrity statement
PHI 303 -- Medieval Philosophy (new course)
was approved pending the following changes:
- Cover Sheet -- clarify prerequisite with statement on page 9.
- On corequisite state that PHI 495 is for majors only.
FLG 499 -- Internship in Germany, Austria or German Speaking Switzerland (new course)
was approved pending the following changes:
- In catalogue description, add a statement about travel and living expenses and remove S/U grading statement.
GC 250 -- Architectural Engineering Graphics (revision)
was tabled pending written documentation of consultation with Civil Engineering and College of Design.
GC 330 -- Basic Technical Animation (new course)
was tabled pending written documentation of consultation with College of Design.
GC 340 -- Concepts of Website Development (new course)
was approved as submitted.
FOR 250 -- Professional Development II -- Communications in Natural Resources (revision)
was approved pending:
- Page 4 -- correcting URL’s in disabilities statement.
FOR 350 -- Professional Development III -- Natural Resource Management (revision)
was approved pending:
- Page 3 -- clarification of 3rd sentence (italicized)
- Page 5 -- update URL in disability statement
FOR 450 -- Professional Development IV -- Leadership (revision)
was approved pending:
- Page 2 -- check URL in integrity statement and changing ‘below 55’ to ‘below 56’ in last line.
HON 371 -- Environmental Science and Technology (new course)
was approved as submitted.
BTC 495 -- Special Topics in Biomanufacturing (new course)
was approved pending the following changes:
- Cover sheet -- check Fall, Spring, Summer and Every Year boxes for scheduling and fill in contact hours.
BTC 497 -- Biomanufacturing Research Projects new course
was approved pending the following changes:
- Cover sheet -- change ‘projects’ to ‘research’ in abbreviated title and fill in contact hours.
- Page 2 -- include a statement on expectations and grading.
ENT 305 -- Introduction to Forensic Entomology (new course)
was approved pending the following changes:
- Cover Sheet -- remove ‘forensic sciences minor’ from required category and include a statement about transportation costs and arrangements in the catalogue description.
- Pages 3, 4, 5 -- Coordinate learning objectives
- Page 5 -- include honor pledge in academic honesty statement.
GTI 401 -- US Culture and Education Colloquium (new course)
was approved pending the following changes:
- Cover sheet -- clarify contact hours and include transportation specifics in catalogue description
- Page 10 -- Under evaluation, specify what entails ‘active participation’ in class and include prices of required textbooks.
- Page 11 -- In attendance policy at bottom of page, clarify manner in which tardiness will impact grade.
BS in Agricultural Science -- new degree was approved pending the following changes:
- Page 2 -- in program requirements clarify what is required for intercampus transfer admissions.
- Page 11 and page 26 -- Spring semester sophomore year change total from ’15-16’ to ’16-17’
GTI Certificate -- Certificate in US Culture and Education (new)
was approved pending clarification of the number of hours needed to receive the certificate.
International Studies Minor (revision)
was approved as submitted
International Studies Curriculum (revision)
was approved pending the following change:
- Page 13 -- Under 11 science elective drop ‘GRP 803’ and restate the sentence to show students need 1 additional science.
Fitness Leader Minor (revision)
was approved pending the following changes:
- Page 3 -- correct course titles for PE 109, PE 230 and PE 381.
Accounting Concentrations (3) (revisions)
Revisions were approved pending the following changes:
- Pages 6, 14, 22 under PE change ‘107’ to ‘109’.
- Pages 8, 16, 24 -- correct course titles, specifically BUS 305 and BUS 480
