Meeting was called to order at 12:37 pm
Remarks from the Chair. The summary of UCCC’s response to the GER Task Force report was delayed, but it will be the last agenda item at the current meeting.
Remarks from the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Programs. John Ambrose encouraged UCCC to complete the discussion of the GER Task Force report.
Approval of the minutes from 27 September 2006. The minutes were not available, and approval was removed from the agenda.
Requests for nominations for UCCC chair for 2007-2008 were continued. Chris Ashwell was nominated. The Chair encouraged additional nominations to be sent to her.
NEW BUSINESS
Consent Agenda.
Proposal to revise the B.S. in Criminology was approved.
Major Actions.
HI 445, request to establish a new course was approved pending revision of the statements on page 3 on Late and Incomplete grades to agree with the statements on page 4.
HI 459, request to establish a new course was approved pending revision of the statements on page 3 on Late and Incomplete grades to agree with the statements on page 4.
BIT 470, request to establish a new course was approved pending addition of statements on late assignments and the requirements of class participation, a change in the abbreviated title, and removal of the statement on medical excuses.
AEE 435, request to establish a new course was tabled for a lack of consultation with the Department of Communication. The Committee also requested removal of the reference to HAT on page 6, and clarification of the pre-requisites and course-level.
AEE 360, request to establish a new course was approved pending removal of the word “suggested” from the pre-requisites on page 5, and addition of the URL to the statement on Incompletes on page 6.
AEE 460, request to establish a new course was approved pending addition of the URL to the statements on Incompletes on page 6.
Discussion on the General Education Proposal.
A summary of the UCCC position on the proposed changes to the GER was provided. The Committee approved the summary after further discussion and some revisions for clarification.
